About me

My passion for photography started when I was a kid, at that time my father taught me how to use his glorious Pentax Spotmatic F, he explained me how the shutter and the diaphragm work, the difference between types of film and depth of field.

For years, photography was a hobby that I could practice only in my free time and limited because of the rising costs of development and print.

In the first years of the university I left photography to attend cinema classes at University of Bologna. Fascinated by moving images post-production, I devoted myself exclusively to video editing and to motion graphic.

My first compact digital camera, that sometimes I still use, was a Nikon Coolpix 3700. Since this camera allowed me not only to take pictures but also to look at the images on the display and especially to elaborate them, I realized what I was missing was the possibility to intervene directly on the image.

Buying a good digital SLR, Nikon D80, and a range of accessories (from the lenses to the tripod) has allowed me to get closer to photography. Professionally speaking, digital photography allows me to create myself the images I need to integrate video and animations, but also gives me the opportunity to work as a photographer for sets of short films and feature films.

Photography, however, is not only a part of my job, but a way to express what I feel, just like writing. For this reason I have a photoblog where I share images and words, whose slogan is "I take pictures of what I think, I write about what I see." Besides what I really like about photography is telling a story in one or more images and preserve the memory of those moments, which seem to come to life through the pictures. In this way I can also succeed in getting in touch with the world and in being able to better understand life. For me the one to follow is Japanese Daido Moriyama, whose photographs are really inspiring and who said: "for me photography is not a mean to create art but only a way to get in touch with the true reality."
