When is the best time to travel to Tuscany?

The answer may vary depending on the type of vacation in Tuscany you are planning. If you want to explore the Tuscan countryside, the best time to visit Tuscany is early spring, late summer and early autumn; when temperatures are mild, not too hot, it's the best season to enjoy your holiday in the Tuscan countryside, to do bike tours, horse riding, hiking in nature parks. During summer many farmhouses and vacation rentals in Tuscan countryside have the swimming pool open, here you can refresh yourself and have a very good time.

For those of you who have in mind a Tuscan wine tasting holiday and a wine tour of the cellars, the best time to go on Tuscan vacation is from the beginning of September until the end of October, the season of harvest.

The summer season is definitely the fair time for tourists planning beach holidays in Tuscany. Many beautiful sea destinations are located along the Tuscan coast and in the Tuscan islands, where you can do boating and water sports. From June until September the maritime links are more frequent.

If your holiday goal is to visit Florence, to do the Leaning Tower of Pisa tour, and to explore other Tuscan cities, it would be better to avoid the hot season, from mid June till August, when walking in the late morning and in the early afternoon is not recommended, accommodation prices are lower and cities less crowded.

From late November to early Avril you can ski and do other winter sports. Usually this is the time when ski resorts are open, and you can spend a white Christmas in the Tuscan mountains.

 

Which is the best way to fly to Tuscany?

Getting to Tuscany by air is the easiest way to reach Tuscany from any part of the world you are coming from. The principal airports of Tuscany are Galileo Galilei airport of Pisa and Amerigo Vespucci airport of Florence.

 

What is the best way to visit Tuscany?

Travelling by car is the best solution to visit Tuscany if you are planning a vacation in Chianti or a holiday in Maremma or somewhere else in the Tuscan countryside. Indeed travel by public transport allows you to reach only the major cities of Tuscany. So, while go by train to Florence or to Pisa is recommended, since the station is located in the center and you can avoid the city traffic, the car is often the only way to reach small villages of Tuscany.

 

How far is Tuscany from Rome?

You can enjoy a 'Roman holiday' while on vacation in Tuscany... especially if you are going on a one-week vacation or more.

In fact, Rome is not far from Tuscany's major cities. Train connects directly Florence to Rome and Pise to Rome. Journey time by train and ticket price depend on type train. So, if you take a high-speed train from Rome to Florence, travel time is only 1 hour and a half but the price gets higher as the speed. If you are not particularly in a hurry, you can pay half and going from Florence to Rome is about 4 hours. If you travel from Rome to Florence by car, it takes about 3 hours.

The fast train from Pisa to Roma is 2 hours and a half, instead going from Pise to Rome is about 4 hours if you take a 'regionale' train or if you travel by car.
